The Fan-Controlled Football League (FCFL) is exactly what it sounds like, a real world sports league where the Fans are in charge. It's like Madden in real life.

All FCFL games will be live-streamed on Twitch, the world’s leading social video service and community for gamers and eSports, available on mobile, desktop, and tablet. The FCFL has also teamed up with IMG Original Content who will be supporting the league with their unparalleled expertise in sports and entertainment.

How it Works

For The Players

In the FCFL you don’t play for your hometown fans, you play for fans across the globe. All 8 teams will be based in a single city and play in a massive production studio. This is a league built for the digital fan, and as a player you will have a global stage to show what you can do. Our streaming broadcast deal with Twitch provides an audience of more than 120 million passionate fans ready to call your number. Time to show the world what you’ve got.

For The Fans

Via an interactive video overlay on Twitch or in the FCFL app, fans will call all of the plays in real time for the 8 teams in the new league. The outcome of each fan vote will be relayed to the quarterback and executed on the field.

In addition to play calling, the FCFL is putting fans in the General Manager role for the first time in sports, allowing them to determine each team’s name, logo, coach, and the players that make the roster via a fan-run draft. It’s a video game brought to life, and it’s what ever football fan has been waiting for.

Proof of Concept

In 2017 we proved the fan-run model when we launched an expansion team called the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles in the Indoor Football League. We partnered with both Amazon’s Twitch and Sports Illustrated, and turned over control of the team to our fans – generating hundreds of thousands of streams and play-calls via our mobile app from fans across the world. The fan playcalling lead to one of the most high-powered offenses in the league and our quarterback was named Offensive Rookie of the Year.

THE FAN ACCESS NETWORK TOKEN

FAN tokens are the power behind fan interactivity and engagement in the FCFL. All activity in the league relies on FAN tokens, from voting on which coach to hire to real-time play calling during the games. The more FAN tokens a fan owns, the more control that fan has over their favorite team.

Fans can accumulate FAN tokens by watching games, calling plays, proving their knowledge, making team decisions and competing against rival fans. Certain top fans of the team that wins the title get a cut of the $1,000,000 and growing championship prize pool and bragging rights over the rest of the league.

Is this actual football with real players?

Yup! This is real football featuring guys who have been on NFL rosters, been through NFL training camps, and played high-level college ball. We have several key members of the FCFL with direct NFL experience, including co-founder Ray Austin, who played safety for the Chicago Bears and New York Jets, and is a proud Tennessee Volunteer. In addition, senior advisor Andy Dolich is the former Chief Operating Officer of the San Francisco 49ers, and senior advisor Manish Jha is the former General Manager of Mobile Operations for the NFL.

The FCFL’s prototype was the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, an organization in the Indoor Football League whose offense was run entirely by fan voting and ended the 2017 season ranked third in the league. The quarterback of the Screaming Eagles, Verlon Reed, was named rookie of the year. We are now taking this experience and applying it to an entire league. Real football; real fan engagement.

Where will the FCFL play its games?

We haven’t finalized a location yet, but the plan is to have all 8 teams play the first season in one location. Each team will have its own style and identity, so fans favorite team won’t just be a random squad from their hometown but will be the team they most want to root for. Think of it kind of like PGA, Nascar or UFC – the athlete you root for in those sports is probably not from the same city as you, but you like them because you dig their game.

Can I try out for the league?

Definitely – if you are a legit top flight athlete with major college or pro football experience.

This is the Fan Controlled Football League, meaning the fans get to take over the role of the GM and Coaches. Its not the Fans Playing Football League, so only legit players need apply.

How does fan voting work?

Fans will call all of the plays in real time for the 8 teams in the new league either directly on Twitch or via the FCFL mobile app. The outcome of each fan vote will be relayed to the quarterback and executed on the field. In addition to play calling, the FCFL is putting fans in the General Manager role for the first time in sports, allowing them to determine each team’s name, logo, coach, and the players that make the roster. Each of these votes, and the fan-run draft, will be in the FCFL app.

FAN Tokens are the lifeblood of the fan-controlled sports engagement engine, and like a video game, your tokens can be used for a variety of transactions, including unlocking additional content, procuring merchandise, or gaining access to exclusive events including sideline viewing of games. We will even maintain a public leader board where fans will compete to see who is objectively the most successful owner/GM/coach, and the highest-performing fans of the championship-winning team will share in the $1,000,000+ purse.

How can fans earn power in the FCFL?

ENGAGE! Once the FAN Token sale closes up, the only way to acquire Tokens from the FCFL and all future leagues will be to actively take part in league operations. Call plays, scout opponents, write a review of the past week’s games; there are many touch-points through which fans will be able to accumulate FAN Tokens. The more you prove your worth as a owner/GM/coach, the more you will be rewarded with FAN Tokens demonstrating your sports aptitude.

What are FAN Tokens, exactly?

FAN Tokens will be the lifeblood for a new form of deeply fan-centric professional sports leagues where fans are tasked with making all operational decisions – from scouting and signing personnel, to strategizing for upcoming games, to calling plays in real-time. This is accomplished via crowdsourced, decentralized votes that are housed on the blockchain to maximize transparency.

Each fan’s token stack, along with their level of engagement, will determine the power of their vote for their team’s decisions: the more tokens a fan owns and the more tokens they have earned, the more weight their vote will carry. Fans are able to earn FAN Token through various touch points across the FCFL (and future leagues to come), including successfully calling plays, participating in votes and operational decisions, interacting with sponsors, creating and consuming content, and more.
